The EMVA is happy to announce that

Martin Vander-Weyer
Financial Journalist

will open the 2016 EMVA Conference with his keynote.

Martin Vander Weyer is business editor and columnist for The Spectator, the world’s oldest weekly current affairs magazine, and a regular contributor to the Daily Telegraph, Mail on Sunday, Literary Review, and other national publications.

He is also the author of a number of books and plays. His latest book is Fortune’s Spear (2011), the biography of a 1920’s fraudster. He published Falling Eagle: The Decline of Barclays Bank in 2000, and was editor and principal author of Closing Balances: Business Obituaries from The Daily Telegraph (2006).

Previous journalistic assignments include: City editor of The Week; associate editor and co-founder of MoneyWeek; leader writer for the Daily/Sunday Telegraph; founding editor of Spectator Business.

Martin spent fifteen years as an investment banker in London, Brussels and the Far East and was a director of what became Barclays Capital, before turning to writing.


First ‘Parma Vision Night’ well received

More than 20 machine vision companies took the chance to be present at the first ‘Parma Vision Night‘. Taking place the evening before the SPS Italy opened its doors in Parma the networking event attracted 50+ persons representing trade show exhibitors and also visiting companies. Photo PVN
The representatives of the two organisers Messe Frankfurt Italy and the EMVA showed themselves impressed by the very positive feedback their proposal received. Both confirmed their plan to repeat the event and establishing it as a fixed topic in the trade show agenda for the years to come.

In 2017 the ‘Parma Vision Night’ will be held on Monday, May 22nd.

In general the SPS Show Italy could achieve new records too, both in number of exhibitors and trade show visitors. 674 exhibitors (+11%) were prepared to present products and services to 28,614 visitors (+22%). Within this success also the exhibitors of our industry again gained increased visibility and attention.

European Machine Vision Forum

EMVA’s brand new annual two-day event, where machine vision industry and academic research meet to learn from each other, get an understanding of the newest research results, of open problems from applications, learn about new and emerging application fields, and to discuss new research cooperation between industry and academics.
The first forum will take place at Heidelberg University, Germany, and focus on image processing algorithms – from low level to deep learning.

Industrial cameras improve track monitoring efficiency for London Underground

STEMMER IMAGING has worked closely with London Underground to develop and deliver 104 industrial camera assemblies that are mounted directly onto passenger trains to provide image data on the condition of the wheel/rail interface and the track itself. New xiSpec Hyperspectral Multi-Linescan Camera model available

Ximea Press Conventional color cameras use a mosaic pattern of red, green and blue (RGB) color filters on top of the pixel matrix. Hyperspectral cameras replace the RGB pattern by many different wavelength filters.
