EUROPEAN MACHINE VISION FORUM
Guided Lab Tour at Fraunhofer IIS

The upcoming European Machine Vision Forum 2025 will focus on methods, systems and applications based on such images of the “invisible”. Of particular interest here are sensor systems and methods for acquiring image data as well as procedures for evaluating them.

Besides the plenary sessions with carefully selected contributed and invited talks, presenting a broad variety of a focused topic of the forum participants have the unique opportunity to join a tour through the labs of the Fraunhofer Institute in Fürth, Germany. Highlight might be the CT lab:

XXL Computed Tomography
The XXL CT hall in Fürth is one of the largest x-ray systems in the world. Thanks to the use of high
X-ray energies it is possible to examine very large objects such as, for example, assembled vehicles (or crash cars), sea-freight containers or aircraft parts, in 2d as well as in 3d. As a result, the customer receives 2d or 3d images of the examined object which can be used for further analysis and evaluation.
More labs respectively topics addressed during the tour may be find via the link: Read more ›

Interview Series ‘Faces of Machine Vision Standards’
The EMVA talked with Dietmar Wüller

What drives vision specialists to join Standard working groups?
Why do companies support active contribution to Standard development?

Continuing its interview series the EMVA this time asked Mr. Dietmar Wüller, CEO emeritus of Image Engineering, about his motivation to join the work on standardisation.

In the early 1990s, I pursued my studies in photographic technology at the University of Applied Sciences in Cologne, a period that coincided with the emergence of digital imaging. In 1997, I established Image Engineering and developed the first camera test stand. To avoid reinventing the wheel, I joined the ISO committee and built the test stand using standards that were under development at the time. In 2007, as the production of test equipment had become a significant part of Image Engineering’s business operations, I became involved with EMVA 1288, primarily as an observer. Read more ›

Vision Seminar on Surface Inspection and Characterization for Quality Assurance

The next seminar on surface inspection and characterization for quality assurance will take place on December 3rd and 4th in Karlsruhe, Germany.
The seminar offers a comprehensive insight into the field of surface inspection and characterization by providing lectures on the basics of relevant technologies as well as on practical applications. In the second, practical part, surface inspections systems will be demonstrated and some chosen sample parts of the participants can be examined.
  • The seminar language is German.
  • Participation fee: 1.280 euros
  • EMVA members will get a 10 percent reduction
