The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (DIMI) of the University of Brescia is one of the oldest Departments of the Area of Engineering. Born in 1982, together with the start of the activities of the University as an independent University, is one of the three Departments of the Macroarea of Engineering (the former Faculty of Engineering). The Department is fully active in all the research disciplinesd of mechanics engineering, including industrial automation, robotics, management and social engineering, mechanical and electrical measurements, metallurgy. It has many collaborations with universities and enterprises at the local, national and international level. Its researchers’ bibliographic production is rich, and a few start-ups and spinoff companies have been created and operate successfully, involving a number of Professors, Researchers, and Ph.D. students.
The Department hosts seven Programs (three Bachelor Programs and four Master Programs), and two joint-title Programs. It hosts a Ph.D. Course in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (DRIMI), followed by excellence students from all over the world. Altogether the Department hosts more than 60% of all the Engineering students today.
The industrial (applied) research is very rich and qualifiedd, as it is the activity in the Technology transfer and third mission.
The Department operates in its trhee main branches (Research, Teaching and Third Mission) following the strict requirements of the self-evaluation, external evaluation and accreditation of the Universities of the Italian agency ANVUR.Company type
