• 148 participants from 17 nations attended the 4th European Machine Vision Business Conference in Tampere, Finland on June 30th and July 1st, 2006.
• Executive Committee reelected at EMVA General Assembly

The 4th European Machine Vision Business Conference took place in the Finnish city of Tampere on June 30th and July 1st, 2006. With close to 150 top-level machine vision executives and experts it provided excellent networking opportunities and attracted almost 50% more participants than last year's conference. Four different conference tracks focused on machine vision in Finland, new technologies, business trends and machine vision markets.
At the General Assembly held on the second day of the conference, the projects of EMVA were presented and discussed, such as the first results of the 2nd European Vision Technology Market Study, the EMVA 1288 and GenICam Standards, the EMVA marketing services and new activities in the area of EU research funding.
The EMVA General Assembly also unanimously reelected the Executive Committee for a second term of office. For the next three years it will continue to be composed of:
• EMVA President Gabriele Jansen (ISRA VISION SYSTEMS, Germany)
• EMVA Vice-President Mats Gökstorp (SICK IVP, Sweden)
• EMVA Treasurer Toni Ventura-Traveset (Datapixel, Spain)
• Don Braggins (UKIVA, United Kingdom)
• Martin Wäny (AWAIBA, Portugal)
The conference provided ample opportunities for networking. A get-together at the Tampere Marina, an evening event featuring a boat cruise to Rosendahl as well as a guided tour of Tampere gave all attendees the opportunity to make valuable contacts. The EMVA Conference 2007 will be held in Lyon, France.
