Aqsense 3D shape analysis library enables parts to be inspected at production-line speeds
Spanish software company Aqsense Sl is introducing SAL3D at VISION 2008. The company's products, including versions that are compatible with Common Vision Blox, will be on display at VISION 2008 on Stemmer Imaging's booth (C51) in hall 4. Germany's ACT Smartware will run an application demonstration of this 3D shape analysis library using ACT's 3D Vision Factory and 3D Photon Focus cameras on Photon Focus' booth (C71) in hall 4.
According to Aqsense, this C++ software development library for 3D machine-vision industrial applications, is capable of accurately inspecting parts at production-line speeds. It says the library implements a SAL3D CORE module, featuring optimised point cloud operations and data types, with the aim of providing unparalleled speed and accuracy levels for 3D machine-vision applications. In addition, the CORE features an input interface that is compatible with Silicon Software and Dalsa frame-grabbers, and capable of connecting to most existing laser-based 3D cameras. It is also compatible with the rest of the company's commercially available tools.
Currently available software tools include the Peak Detector, Metric Calibration, Merger 3D and Match 3D tools. Designed for low-speed applications, the Peak Detector is an accurate laser stripe detector. It enables height variations of 5 µm to be detected with an angle of 90º between the camera and laser and with fields of view of 130 mm. This tool is also available in a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) implementation for high-speed applications. The Metric Calibration tool provides a straightforward, easy procedure for obtaining the true XYZ metric coordinates from 2.5 D range maps generated by any standard laser triangulation system, while the Merger 3D tool, allows the minimisation of occlusions or shadows that typically appear in laser triangulation applications. The Match 3D tool is a sophisticated piece of software that allows extremely fast alignment and comparison of 3D point clouds with their respective models.
Aqsense's products are distributed by Stemmer Imaging GmbH, Parameter and Infaimon Sl.
