SRV machine-vision sensor fulfils a diverse range of machine-vision tasks
German automation specialist Schunk GmbH & Co KG is offering a sensor which, it says, is capable of fulfilling a diverse range of machine-vision tasks.
According to the company, the main function of the SRV machine-vision or camera sensor is to determine the position of objects that are to be gripped. It is also capable of angular measurement, monitoring the completeness and presence of components, and can conduct assembly and criteria inspection procedures.
The SRV system combines, in a compact casing, not only a camera and lens, but also a lighting unit (provided by light-emitting diodes) and evaluation electronics, including software and interfaces. In the simplest scenario, it is sufficient to connect the sensor to a power supply and set up the system immediately using two buttons. A user-friendly software program is available for more complex tasks.
The sensor features a high resolution of 720 x 480 pixels. It is possible to configure the system for three, fixed working distances of 150 mm, 300 mm or 450 mm, with three different illumination colours - red, blue and near-infrared (NIR).
The system's communication interfaces include I/O ports, and an analogue output and USB 2.0 port. The compact housing, which is IP67-rated, substantially enhances its electromagnetic compatibility.
The sensor is virtually maintenance-free and its use reduces operating costs, claims the firm.
