XenICs inaugurates volume production in Singapore
XenICs BV, a developer and manufacturer of infrared detectors and customised imaging systems that is based in Leuven, Belgium, is continuing its worldwide expansion strategy and growth by establishing sInfraRed Pte Ltd in Singapore.
Owned entirely by XenICs, sInfraRed is to provide marketing, sales and support, and volume production and customisation of the Belgian firm's products in Asia, Australia and the Middle East.
The facility in Singapore will cover the full spectral range of XenICs' product portfolio that is not restricted to InGaAs products. It is expected to achieve significant cost reductions for XenICs' newly expanding large-volume production of cameras and infrared detectors.
Bob Grietens, founder and Chief Executive Officer of XenICs, commented: "With this geo-strategic expansion we combine XenICs' flexibility in terms of advanced product development and state-of-the-art product performance with substantial price reductions in volume markets. We can also supply worldwide markets that are better served locally than from our European home-base."
sInfraRed will be headed by Raf Vandersmissen, drawn from XenICs headquarters in Leuven, Belgium. In addition to acting as a sales office for Asia, Australia and Middle East - to support the existing distributor network in these regions - it will also extend the XenICs sales network to new regions and identify new markets for the firm's products. It will also serve as a manufacturing base for ROICs and PCBs in subcontracting projects. Another function of the new facility is custom product development for camera and ROIC design. Key technology developments, says the company, will remain at XenICs headquarters.
