MVTec previews Halcon 9.0 at VISION 2008
German developer of machine-vision software MVTec Software GmbH is providing visitors to this year's VISION show with a preview of the latest version of its software library Halcon.
Version 9.0, which is scheduled to be released in January 2009, provides unique improvements that will benefit users, says the company. The new version is faster. In particular, Halcon's parallel processing performance has been improved. The automatic operator, which distributes the data-processing load to a number of available cores has been speeded up considerably and thus significantly increases the benefit of using multi-core computers, says the firm.
Furthermore, Halcon 9.0 now provides unique matching technologies, claims the MVTec Software. It will be possible to robustly and reliably find two-dimensional objects (for example, labels) or work pieces with a corresponding structure, even if images contain strong perspective distortions.
In addition to improvements in the well established matching and three-dimensional vision techniques, Halcon 9.0 most notably offers considerably enhanced usability. Moreover, from now on, large images of more than 32 k x 32 k pixels can be processed.
At VISION 2008, further information will be available on MVTec Software's stand (4C55) in hall 4.
