Matrox Design Assistant 2.0 is now available from Rauscher
The latest version of the Matrox Design Assistant, an intuitive, flowchart-based software package for the Matrox Iris E smart camera, is now available from German distributor of machine vision products and systems Rauscher GmbH of Olching.
By including more image-processing and analysis tools, Matrox Design Assistant 2.0 will enable these smart cameras to be deployed in an even greater number of applications, in almost any industry, says Rauscher.
With Matrox Design Assistant 2.0, users can now create flowcharts of their applications with steps for image-processing (for example, arithmetic, filtering, geometric transformations, logic, LUT mapping, and morphology); blob analysis; pattern recognition based on normalised greyscale correlation; and reading character strings. In conjunction with the steps available in Version 1.0 (CodeReader, Edge Locator, IntesityChecker, Metrology and ModelFinder), Matrox Design Assistant 2.0 offers all required vision tools for most applications.
The latest version supports both Ethernet/IP and Modbus over TCP/IP to enable systems to interact with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and other process automation equipment. It also includes an software development kit that allows users to add specific custom functionality.
The package draws on Matrox Imaging's two-decade history of imaging software experience. In the Matrox Design Assistant environment, users create a flowchart of the application, which instructs the Matrox Iris E-Series camera to capture, process, analyse and display image data. The intuitive nature of the cameras combined with Design Assistant eliminates the need for programming and scripting.
