IDS improves housing design for its uEye LE entry-level camera
German camera manufacturer IDS Imaging Development Systems GmbH has improved the design of the housing that is used for its USB uEye LE camera series.
The company says that this product upgrade features a new sealing system between the sensor and the camera's filter glass. The optimised and precisely fitted seal creates an effective barrier to dust and other particles - preventing these from entering the clean and uncontaminated sensor area.
By adopting a multi-part approach to the filter design, the seal, the filter glass and the lens thread are now mounted separately. This enables users to easily exchange the filter glass at any time.
IDS offers a variety of filter glasses with different effects for all cameras. The individual sensor and colour settings can be customised through the camera's software to suit the selected filter. The camera series' housing format and software structure remain unchanged, which enables the USB uEye LE to be integrated into existing environments without users having to make any changes.
According to IDS, the cameras which make up the USB uEye LE series feature complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) sensors that have resolutions ranging from wide VGA to 5 megapixels - offering an excellent price/performance ratio. Besides models with housings that are CE-B certified and use a C/CS-mount lens connection, the series also includes board-level versions with a S-mount lens holder. All USB and GigE cameras from the company come with a free uEye software development kit that enables them to be used in both existing and new applications.
