Siemens' lighting components are designed for industrial image-processing applications
Siemens Industry Automation Division of Nuremberg, Germany, is adding a series of lighting components to its product range - targeting industrial image-processing applications.
According to the company, the Nerlite LT430 backlights create a high contrast environment for representing the contours of a component, detecting edges, or for inspecting openings in, for example, drill holes.
They are available in seven sizes - with dimensions ranging from 47 mm x 59 mm to 200 mm x 250 mm. Several of the frameless models can be arranged edge-to-edge to form 'continuous' lighting surfaces of different sizes, which can be used when objects are being inspected.
Light sources are available in red, green, blue, white and infrared to suit different application requirements. The products are suitable for both diffuse transmitted-light and incident-light illumination. The low-profile housing and the LED heat management system enable the lighting units to be positioned in machine locations where space is restricted. They are connected to power supplies or lighting control units using M12 connections.
Capable of a host of operating modes - from continuous to strobe lighting - these components are suitable for a wide range of applications, says Siemens. These include the inspection of the form, contour and outline of a component; checking for the presence or absence of component properties; measurement; edge highlighting; component positioning; and component identification.
