Rauscher offers complete embedded system for imaging and machine vision
German distributor of machine vision products and systems Rauscher GmbH of Olching is now offering Matrox 4Sight-X, which it describes as a complete embedded system that integrates video capture, processing and display functions.
The rugged construction and small footprint of the system makes it ideal for any environment, says Rauscher. Built on an embedded Intel 64-bit multi-core architecture, Matrox 4Sight X is equipped with either a Core2 Duo or Celeron processor, as well as Intel's GMA X3100 (Graphics Media Accelerator) chip, to offload image-processing routines.
For image acquisition, it features dual, integrated Gigabit Ethernet ports for GigE-Vision and three IEEE 1394 a/b ports for data conforming to the Industrial Instrumentation Digital Camera (IIDC) FireWire format. Optional frame grabbers for PCI Express (PCIe) x4, or 32-bit PCI, can acquire video from analogue, digital RS-422/low-voltage differential signalling (LVDS) and Camera Link sources. It is also possible to use complementary hardware compression. All optional hardware (for image acquisition and compression) is pre-installed and configured at the factory.
Microsoft Windows XP Embedded is available with the system, and applications are programmed used the Matrox Imaging Library (MIL).
