The task
The contents of ampoules of different sizes are coded by manu-facturers by means of three colored rings. Vitronic’s quality inspection system VINSPEC verifies these color ring combinations that define the contents on a circular automated system, prior to labeling of the ampoules. Here, the intensity and arrangement of the color rings are checked for errors.
The verification is carried out by the image-processing system, where a specifications database has been integrated.

Statement of Task
Bronze wire MIG welding systems are used in the bodywork area at AUDI AG to join galvanized high-alloy sheet metal and stainless steel sheet metal. The weld is applied to an elongated slot in the upper sheet and thus joins the upper and lower sheets together. An image processing system is required to inspect the seams to guarantee product quality.

Daimler AG becomes the first vehicle manufacturer to utilize a system for the automated
inspection and optimization of welded seams. The overall concept developed by Daimler
was implemented for the first time for rear axle carrier assembly on the new C-Class.
Since installing VITRONIC's weld seam inspection technology at Mettingen in February
2007, more than 8 million welded seams alone have been successfully inspected and,
if required, optimized.
